Thank you everybody for your support! I haven't decided what I want to do for the prize though... pins are cute, but I can't be sporting random pins on my purse or something at the office.

I may end up requesting fanart...

Anyways, onto what the subject line implies is the main purpose of this journal entry.
I tend to have really bizarre dreams. In college, I once had a dream that me and four of my friends were a team of spies and assassins, and I typed it up in detail on my Livejournal. We fully intended to turn it into a comic book, but that project died after a falling-out. Another time, I had a dream about a tribe of immortal talking frogs that were mysteriously dying from some unknown disease. The king frog announced that every one of his subjects had to jump off the edge of a magical waterfall to increase their fertility exponentially, thereby ensuring the survival of their race. I think you can see where I'm going with this.
Friday night, or maybe Saturday morning, I had a dream about the characters in Naruto. I rarely have fan dreams, so this was a bit startling. Even weirder was that it had a musical soundtrack and played out like a movie in front of me--on the scale of
Final Fantasy: Advent Children. The main characters in this "movie" were Hinata and Temari, with Kankuro, Shikamaru, and Naruto as supporting characters, and integral parts in what was a love... pentagon? And the best part: it's a futuristic sci-fi space movie with a soundtrack rooted in the 1960s. OMFG.
It opened with a shot of Hinata, in hibernation, or cryo-sleep, or
something, in a pod that was closely orbiting a spaceship in what looked like deep space. The pod is part of the ship, but separate to save power for the ship itself when and if Hinata wakes up (it's easier and more efficient to provide oxygen to a small person-sized pod instead of a whole ship when keeping someone alive). Slowly, a shadow envelops what little light was glowing from the pod's life support dashboard, and a carrier ship from Konoha appears. It remotely reconnects Hinata's life pod to the main ship, and steers the whole thing into an open hangar/dock.
Upon landing and powering down, recently promoted Jounin Captain Nara Shikamaru and his Chuunin Lieutenant Sarutobi Konohamaru, along with Tokubetsu Jounin Haruno Sakura of the Med Corps and Tokubetsu Jounin Aburame Shino of the Tech/Engineering Corps all run down to Hinata and free her from her pod. She doesn't awaken from her sleep, and is immediately taken to a special wing in the hospital meant for....dun dun DUN! Bio-androids! They didn't actually say what Hinata was in my dream, but that's the best word I could come up with.
So, Hyuuga Hinata is one of the most advanced artificial lifeforms created. She has emotions, her biology is in essence human, she can procreate if she wanted to, but she is man-made. Therefore, her higher brain functions are so far beyond even the most intelligent humans. When accessing the level of power and function of a supercomputer, she outwardly goes into a trance and everything is done on a subconscious level, so she won't actually remember whatever she does in this state.
Days of programming, data recovery, healing, and recuperation go by, and Hinata finally wakes up to find Jounin Captain Hyuuga Neji and Shikamaru discussing her status. They notice her eyes fluttering open, and she stares at them for a moment, before adorning a wry smirk and greeting Shikamaru with, "What's up, Crybaby?"
*GASP!*
On a Suna battleship in the midst of repairs, Sabakuno Temari, a bio-android constructed as a sign of goodwill and alliance with Konoha with advanced Konoha technology, wakes up in the hospital to find her "brothers", Kazekage Gaara and Jounin Captain Kankuro as well as Vice Admiral Baki. The draftiness of the room is made apparent by the thin hospital gown, and she looks down at her body, looks up at the men, turns ludicrously red, and screams while frantically grabbing for as much blanket coverage as possible.

Okay, from here on out, I'll just do a quick skim-over of my dream. Apparently, while Konoha and Suna were in a fierce space battle with Sound and Cloud, Hinata and Temari managed to switch bodies. Because of their bio-android abilities, they are able to "plug in" directly into a ship's main board and control it that way, eliminating human error among other things. Each girl was in her own ship, battling Kabuto in
his ship, and connected their computers via LAN as a strategy. Kabuto did some really effed up programming and infected their connected system with a virus that resulted in the girls' body switch. Immediately, their bodies shut down, the ships jettisoned to preprogrammed locations, and went into life-support mode, which was how we found Hinata. The girls were retrieved three weeks later after the fighting died down enough for each military force to spare a well-stocked and properly-supplied ship to pick them up.
So now we have a mortified Hinata in Temari's body, and an amused but vaguely confused Temari in Hinata's body. No one can figure out what happened; each party thinks their bio-android took on damage and corrupted data to the point of altering their personalities. However, Shino notes that this doesn't match what he's seeing in Hinata, which can best be described as two puzzle pieces fitting, but visually not matching.
Shikamaru is the first to figure out what happened, only because he knew Temari from her creation in the Konoha lab and recognized the nickname from years ago. He then contacts Hokage Tsunade and Gaara to apprise them of the situation, and Gaara sends the Hinata-inhabited Temari and Kankuro to Konoha's lab. Forensic research and reverse engineering ensue to figure out how and when exactly the switch happened.
At this point, we get background info. Shikamaru and Shino were the creators and supervisors of the development of the bio-androids spearheaded by Sarutobi Asuma. Shikamaru became fond of Temari and Hinata, for their very different personalities. Temari took an especially strong liking to Shikamaru, but she was built for Suna and was shipped off. Hinata never seemed to show romantic feelings for Shikamaru, but she was very sweet nonetheless, and Shikamaru held her as what the ideal woman would be if he ever decided to start looking to settle down. His role as one of her creators prevented him from seeing her in a romantic light. He even helped her figure out that her strange bodily responses at the appearance of Jounin Lieutenant Uzumaki Naruto meant that she had a crush on him.
Meanwhile, the girls are always kept away from each other for fear of what complications could arise if they were in close proximity. They have constant escorts--Kankuro and Naruto. Naruto starts crushing on the Temari-inhabited-Hinata. Temari is aware that Hinata had feelings for Naruto after rummaging through some deep-rooted subconsious data files, and scoffs at the irony that Naruto only NOW notices Hinata with Temari's boisterous personality. Naruto, however, is unaware that Hinata is not Hinata--he was only assigned to escort the girl and didn't ask questions. Kankuro has more complicated problems: He's developing feelings for a girl inhabiting the body of his sister.
Temari starts to open up and befriend the optimistic and outspoken Naruto--nearly the opposite of her first human connection (and therefore, first love), Shikamaru. She begins to find that she prefers this type of person after she and Naruto have numerous check-in visits and updates with Shikamaru, and soon experiences her first stirrings of guilt. Hinata, new to such emotional complications, and frustrated and maybe a little jealous, takes to confiding in Kankuro. Unfortunately for the somewhat confused and mildly smitten Kankuro, all the nonsense going on around her and their frequent check-ins with Shikamaru lead her to see her creator as the sole and stable constant in her existence and in turn, someone to blush about.
Shikamaru starts delving into philosophical and existential ideas, exploring the concept of id, ego, and super-ego in relation to artificial intelligence in bio-androids. Seeing Hinata's personality completely separate from her body allows him to see her from a different, and ironically, more human angle. Confusion and stomach butterflies ensue, along with all the other emotional turmoil involved with being not only the creator, but the center of a five-point love...shape...thing.
And when it comes about that the girls are able to switch back, it all leads to this: Will Naruto still like Temari when she's back in her body, or will he like Hinata? Will Shikamaru sort out his feelings and see Hinata as a viable romantic prospect? Will Kankuro ever look at Temari the same way again?
AND THEN I WOKE UP.

SO THE BIG QUESTION:Should I draw pictures for this? Should I end my 12-year writing abstinence and take a stab at turning this into a fanfic? Should I just let my crackheaded dream die?
Of course, this is assuming you actually read to the bottom of this entry. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't--it's obscenely long. I'm so sorry!

This idea sounds awesome and so complex too! You just can't ignore this! Dreams mean something, this means...you should write it, draw it, do...something! God commands it! Okay...maybe not God, but something you ate last night before you went to bed, but it's the same thing!
